- What does Diwali mean to you? Diwali fills me with warmth, joy, and color. I’m especially excited this year, celebrating with the friend who helped pick my first lehenga!
- Do you have a favorite Diwali tradition? The festive outfits and jewelry! While I didn’t grow up wearing them, I now love collecting pieces on trips to India. But the best tradition? The food—it's a daily ritual to ask, "What’s for lunch?"
- What’s your festive beauty ritual? I’m all about simple skincare with occasional bold eyeliner or lipstick. However, with jewelry, I’m definitely a “more is more” person!
- Do you prefer traditional outfits or mixed styles for Diwali? I love blending traditional with modern styles. I incorporate bangles and nose rings into everyday looks, but for weddings or Diwali, it’s a lehenga all the way.
- How do you stay grounded during busy festivities? Talking things out keeps me centered. Staying true to myself helps me stay grounded through all the busyness.
- How do you reflect and reset during Diwali? I pause to appreciate every achievement, reminding myself of what my younger self would feel. It’s about acknowledging the blessings and staying connected to who I am.
- How do you balance work and celebrations? It’s a juggling act, but I see both as wins! I embrace each experience, whether it's work success or family celebrations.
- What’s your proudest professional moment? Creating my short film BEIGE was a milestone. It’s a story reflecting the unique experiences of a mixed South Asian actor. Another highlight was my NTA nomination for Casualty—a magical night!
- Advice for young women looking up to you? You know yourself best. Stay true to who you are, and surround yourself with people who support your authenticity. And always, laugh often!
- What does “luxury” mean to you? Luxury is the little treats—a hot chocolate, a bubble bath, or a new haircut. It’s about what makes you feel good, not extravagance.
- Do you have a favorite project? Each project is unique, but working on my own writing has brought an amazing sense of freedom and creativity.
- Do you prefer acting or screenwriting? Both are equally fulfilling! Acting is my first love, while writing allows me to create opportunities for myself and others.
- Tell us about your time on Casualty. Casualty was a fantastic experience and an invaluable learning ground. Leaving was tough, but I was ready for new challenges.
- Have you faced challenges in British TV/film? As a mixed South Asian actor, opportunities can be limited. That inspired me to write BEIGE, highlighting these casting experiences. I’m hopeful the industry is becoming more inclusive.

- Do you have a favorite Diwali memory? One of my favorite memories is from my childhood when my cousins and extended family would gather to enjoy delicious food, watch Bollywood films on TV, and spend quality time together.
- What’s your go-to makeup look during the festive season? My makeup look is consistent throughout the year, but during the festive season, I like to add a pop of color. I experiment with red lipsticks and brighter shades, sometimes incorporating glitter or sparkles.
- Do you prefer traditional outfits for Diwali? Absolutely! I love classic styles like a raw silk sari or a traditional lehenga. Diwali is the perfect occasion to dress up the old-school way.

- How do you reset and reflect during Diwali? I practice gratitude, celebrating victory, happiness, good health, and love during this festive period. I truly believe that gratitude multiplies.

She actively supports projects that amplify diverse voices and narratives, aspiring to inspire a new generation of artists. - What does Diwali mean to you and how do you celebrate it? Diwali for me is usually a time to celebrate with friends and family. I love dressing up, doing the Diwali Puja, indulging in sweets and savories, and overall enjoying the festivities.
- Favorite Diwali memory/tradition from childhood? I grew up in Mumbai, so I definitely miss celebrating Diwali with my parents. My favorite ritual was gorging on the Indian sweets my mum made, lighting diyas all across the house, and meeting friends in the evening to celebrate the festival. Good times!
- My go-to beauty or makeup ritual for the festive season? I genuinely enjoy easy and natural skincare rituals like ice rollers on my face, sheet masks, and homemade face packs like turmeric and lemon juice. They work wonders on Indian skin tones. As for makeup, I believe less is more. However, I do love a bright lipstick—specifically the Sabyasachi-Estée Lauder Calcutta Red and Bombay Berry Lipsticks. They brighten up my look, much needed for a Diwali-lit look!
- Sarees, lehengas, or contemporary outfits for Diwali? I’m a bit of a traditionalist at heart, so I’d say there’s nothing quite like a saree. It makes every woman look stunning! However, I’m fond of lehengas and would like to mix up my style this year. I enjoy lehengas with a jacket; they look really edgy and cool.
- How do you stay grounded and take care of yourself amidst the busy festive celebrations? Self-preservation is crucial during busy times like these. I love my "me time" and almost never compromise on it. Listening to soft music, enjoying a cup of tea in silence, and including a few minutes of meditation and gratitude in my daily routine is essential for me.
- Diwali is a time for renewal; how do you reflect on your journey as an actress? I’m extremely grateful for all the opportunities I’ve had so far as an actress. Growing up, all I wanted was to be an actress. To have a career across two countries is something I never imagined. I’m constantly traveling, and balancing a career in both is challenging, but I consider myself immensely lucky. My Diwali prayers are always about keeping my loved ones happy and healthy and thanking God for showering me with blessings.
- How do you balance work with festive celebrations? Is it hard to manage both? It can be a bit hard, but if you plan it right, it always works out. For example, this year I’m in the middle of my rehearsals for a show called Bombay Superstars, so I’ve asked my director to allow me to leave a couple of hours early, and he graciously obliged. I also create content for Instagram and have brand work to do, but with good planning, it always works out.
- Your proudest professional achievement so far? How has your heritage shaped your career choices? I made my stage debut at age 18 and won the Best Actress award for my first show, which remains my proudest achievement. I had certainly not expected it! Performing on stage or in front of the camera gives me immense joy; I feel my best when performing. Growing up in Mumbai, I am extremely proud of my Indian heritage. I am what they call a "Dil Se Desi" girl and will always make an effort to take our culture forward.
- What advice would you give young women who look up to you as a role model? I often receive DMs from young girls who share their photos and dance videos but feel shy due to fear of judgment. My answer is always the same: you are enough. It’s crucial to wholeheartedly love and accept yourself as you are. If you are comfortable in your skin, nobody else’s comments matter. I advise young girls to focus on building a confident personality; no one can take that away from you.
- What does "luxury" mean to you? Not having deadlines, eating anything I want without gaining weight, and not having to work out would be a luxury! On a serious note, a holiday in a palace in Udaipur would mean luxury to me. Recently, my husband gifted me a helicopter ride for my birthday in Australia, and that was luxury (and love) to me!
- You started your career with Once Upon A Time in Mumbai Dobaara as your first movie. How was that experience? I was fresh out of college and working on a Hindi daily soap when I got a call to audition for this film. I was nervous but excited when I got confirmed. The team was really helpful and friendly; the director Milan Luthria and Sonakshi Sinha made me feel comfortable. Overall, it was a good experience.
- Your experience working on the London West End show Bombay Superstars? Incredible! It’s what dreams are made of. Being part of the original Bombay Superstars team has been a joy. We’re like one big family, and rehearsals are so much fun. The West End experience is something I will cherish for life, and I hope for more opportunities on that stage.
- You have worked in Hindi and Gujarati films. What are the major differences between the two? Gujarati films are in their revival stage right now, with young filmmakers coming up with fresh ideas and stories that resonate with audiences. It’s an exciting time for Gujarati cinema. In contrast, Hindi cinema is a massive industry with substantial finances involved, making the cost of Hindi films much higher than those of Gujarati films.
- What is the biggest highlight of your acting career so far? There are two characters I portray on social media that have gone viral. One is a South Bombay character, and the other is an NRI Gujarati girl. I’ve received videos and photos of young girls dressing up like me and enacting my scenes in competitions. As an artist, nothing validates your work more than this. I am truly grateful for these moments.
- Have you faced any challenges working as an actress? As an actress, I constantly put myself out there, which means I’m always in the public eye. This allows everyone to have an opinion about me. Sometimes feedback isn’t pleasant, and random comments can impact you, especially when you’re younger. Now, I only allow constructive criticism. It’s important to recognize what is helpful for growth and to avoid everything else.
- Differences between acting in the UK vs. India? While I’ll always be a Mumbai girl, I have begun to love working in the UK. The UK is more streamlined and organized than India, which can be quite last minute. For example, I once got confirmed for a TV show at 3 AM and was on set by 8 AM the next morning!
- Exciting upcoming projects? I have a movie called Pavitra Sanskar set for release next year. I’m also looking forward to performing Bombay Superstars at the Beck Theatre this November. Additionally, we’re developing new scripts for our Instagram and YouTube channels!
- What are your goals as an actress? Is there anyone you desire to work with? As an actress, I want to play a variety of roles, regardless of my age, color, or ethnicity. I hope to break stereotypes and play all types of roles. I aspire to be directed by Zoya Akhtar, Shoojit Sircar, and Sanjay Leela Bhansali someday!
