This October, the heart of London’s West End will come alive with a celebration of talent, diversity, and cultural brilliance. RepresentAsian: An Evening of Asian Talent — a one-night-only concert showcasing some of the finest Asian Musical Theatre performers from around the world — will take place on Monday 13th October at the Lyric Theatre, Shaftesbury Avenue.
Blending established icons with rising stars, RepresentAsian is more than a performance — it’s a movement. The concert champions access, opportunity, and visibility within the arts, spotlighting the exceptional talent of Asian artists while nurturing the next generation. Funds raised will go towards a new scholarship for young Asian creatives to train in the performing arts, created in partnership with The Boury Academy and The Right To Be There, founded by acclaimed US actor Conrad Ricamora.
Ricamora, who joins as a special guest on the night, recently originated the role of Abraham Lincoln in Broadway’s Oh, Mary!, earning a Tony Award nomination. Known for his roles in How To Get Away With Murder, The Resident, and the award-winning Fire Island, Ricamora’s stage credits span The King and I, Here Lies Love, and Little Shop of Horrors. With Grammy and Drama Desk nominations to his name, his presence adds Hollywood gravitas to this West End debut event.
The glittering cast features Joanna Ampil (Phantom of the Opera), Frances Mayli McCann (The Great Gatsby), Desmonda Cathabel (Hadestown), Joe Thompson-Oubari (Wicked), Talia Palamathanan (Back to the Future), Parisa Shahmir (Jesus Christ Superstar), and El Haq Latief (Cabaret). Making their West End debuts are Reuben Khan, Ritesh Manugula, and Eunice De Castro, with EastEnders icon and Now That’s What I Call A Musical star Nina Wadia hosting the evening.
Behind the scenes, RepresentAsian is brought to life by an exceptional creative team: Ben Armstrong (Founder and Casting Director), Amy Hsu (Musical Director), Natalie Pound (Musical Supervisor), Ghostlight Productions (Design), and Alex Kais for House of Kais (Head of Brands and Partnerships). The production is led by Aixa Amarante Productions.
As Ben Armstrong explains, “Representation matters deeply to me. As a mixed-race Sri Lankan, I want to give back to the Asian community. Providing access and opportunities for young people is how we widen the talent pool, strengthen representation, and inspire others to champion inclusivity in the arts. I can’t wait to share this show with a West End audience.”
RepresentAsian: An Evening of Asian Talent promises to be a landmark night for diversity in British theatre — a dazzling celebration of artistry, heritage, and the power of representation.
