An Exclusive Catch-Up with Parineeti Chopra: From London Love to Embracing Body Positivity
In our debut edition of Luxurist, we were thrilled to sit down with the ever-charming Parineeti Chopra at The Lalit London, where she graced our cover shoot wearing stunning pieces from Mongas and Nargis Collections, with her look perfected by the talented Joggy.
Talking about her experience, Parineeti gushed, “I had a blast! The clothes were so comfortable—usually, Indian outfits are heavy, but these felt weightless. It was like shooting in pyjamas!” And of course, being in London added to her joy. “London is my second home,” she shared. “I’ve been coming here for 18, 19 years. I love the independence it gives me, from taking public transport to enjoying the privacy that I can’t get in Bombay.”
We dove deeper into her illustrious career, asking about her most challenging role. Without hesitation, she mentioned her recent film Chamkila. “I had to put on 16 kilos for the role. It affected my mood, stamina, and confidence. But as an actor, I was hungry for that role—I’d do anything for it.”
Parineeti’s openness about body image and fitness struck a chord. She’s a firm believer that it’s not about being thin or heavy, but about being fit and healthy. “I feel best when I’m fit, and that’s what I focus on,” she affirmed.
When asked how she prepares for intense roles like Saina and The Girl on the Train, Parineeti revealed her “switch on, switch off” approach. “I prepare mentally, and when the camera rolls, I’m in character. But once they say cut, I switch off and move on. It’s how I stay sane.”
As someone who manages fame with poise, Parineeti is refreshingly grounded about social media. “I don’t let it affect my life. I share about 1% of my life on it. Most people don’t even know where I am half the time,” she laughed.
We couldn’t help but ask about her recent marriage to politician Raghav Chadha, which made waves for its understated elegance. “We had so much fun at the wedding,” Parineeti smiled. “We didn’t focus on social media; we just lived in the moment. Married life is simple and private, which is exactly how we want it.”
And when it comes to luxury, what’s the one thing Parineeti can’t live without? “My bags! I love my designer bags—they’re definitely my weakness.”
As for what’s next, Parineeti left us in suspense. “There’s something exciting coming, but I can’t talk about it just yet. After Chamkila, I’m getting some really interesting offers, so stay tuned!”
It was an absolute pleasure catching up with Parineeti, and we can’t wait to see what she does next. Her passion, humility, and zest for life are contagious, and we’re certain her journey will continue to inspire many.
Thank you, Parineeti, for spending time with Luxurist. We wish you all the best in your exciting endeavors ahead!
