Raj Chohan – Mortgage Broker and Property Developer- Golden Key
Mum: Sukhvir Sangha Mother-in-law: Balvinder Chohan
My mum and mother-in-law have both had a profound impact on my life, both personally and professionally. They’ve worked incredibly hard and always put others first, instilling in me the importance of love, support, and sacrifice. Through their example, I’ve learned to prioritise my family while also chasing my dreams. They’ve been my biggest supporters as I’ve taken on new challenges, and their prayers and encouragement have been a constant source of strength in my journey.
A memorable lesson from my mother-in-law was when she shared how quickly time passed while raising her children. She reflected on how, once the pressures of life eased, the kids had already grown up. This resonated with me deeply, reminding me that everything I do must be on my terms and revolve around my family. Yuvraj and I strive to spend as much time as we can with our children, knowing that the years will pass quickly and we want to cherish every moment before they become young adults.
Balancing entrepreneurship with family life is all about priorities. My husband, kids, work, family, and health come first—everything else takes a backseat. I find that when I focus on these priorities, everything else falls into place.
Throughout my time on The Apprentice, my mum was both protective and supportive. While she worried about the pressures of the limelight, she recognised that my dreams were bigger than just settling for comfort. Her prayers have created a sense of security around me, and I feel blessed to have her support.
For Mother’s Day, I’ve made it a point to create meaningful experiences with both my mum and mother-in-law. This year, we shared a lovely lunch at Baraset Barn, and I hope to make many more memories like this in the years to come.
