Paven Kaur – Professional Makeup Artist & Founder and Accessibility Advocate – Travel Services for Individuals with Special Needs
Daughter: Amber Kaur
From the moment I found out I was pregnant, I fell deeply in love with Amber. Though our journey hasn’t gone as planned, raising her as a single mother has been the most meaningful experience of my life. Amber has Prune 1 syndrome, a rare neurodevelopmental disorder that affects her ability to move, speak, and eat, requiring 24-hour care. Despite the challenges, she has taught me patience, resilience, and the true meaning of unconditional love. Her strength, especially after her diagnosis, has been my anchor, and every day I draw strength from her courage.
Being Amber’s mother is an immense privilege. Our bond is fierce, unconditional, and boundless. She has taught me to appreciate the smallest of moments—the sparkle in her eyes, the warmth of her hand, and the joy in her laughter. Through Amber, I’ve learned that love is not just an emotion but an action that demands patience, resilience, and acceptance. Though she is non-verbal, our love speaks in every shared glance and embrace.
Motherhood has also inspired me to reclaim my independence professionally. I built a career in makeup artistry, which has supported us as a single-parent household. My experiences traveling with Amber also led me to create a company to assist other parents in navigating the challenges of traveling with disabled children. I want to empower families like ours by offering resources to make travel joyful and stress-free while advocating for inclusivity in the industry.
I owe so much to my incredible mum, who has been my rock throughout this journey. As Amber’s grandmother, she has embraced our life with unwavering support. Today, I celebrate not just my own motherhood but the love and strength my mum has shown us both.
