Juggy D’s Mum: The Woman Behind the Music and Strength

Juggy D – British-Indian Singer and Musician
Mum: Surjit Kaur Dhaliwal
My mum has played a pivotal role in shaping who I am today, both as a person and as an artist. Her unconditional love has been a constant, and she has taught me resilience through her strength. Whether it was helping me prepare food when I had a kebab hut in my late teens or assisting me with translating Punjabi songs as I got into singing, her support has been unwavering.
One piece of advice from my mum that has stuck with me is: “Nothing is unachievable if you want something, go out and work for it.” I learned this at the age of 11 when she refused to buy me Adidas Gazelles because they were too expensive. Determined, I took a morning paper round job before school, saved up, and bought them myself.
My next release will be dedicated to my mum. She has always wanted me to sing a Shabad (a Sikh religious song), and with God’s grace, I have completed it. It will be my first release of 2025.
My mum is incredibly proud of my music career. She’s happy that I’m living my dream, something she knew I always wanted to do. Seeing me succeed in something I love brings her great fulfilment. She enjoys being spoilt, attending concerts, and meeting my celebrity friends, all thanks to her support in shaping my career.
For me, Mother’s Day is every day. I’m grateful to spend more time with my parents now than ever before. I’m fortunate to have them both healthy, happy, and strong at 85. I’ve come to Punjab to surprise them with a trip to the Golden Temple in Amritsar, and we’re looking forward to being together this Saturday.
